Yuval Noah Harari asserts in his best-selling book ‘Sapiens’ that our species came to the top of the food chain as a result of our unique ability to create fiction.  By creating powerful stories human beings are able to imagine and cooperate remarkably effectively.

However, like all strengths, our ability to create stories can become our greatest weakness.  Have you heard the one about ‘I’m not good enough’?  Or maybe the one about ‘I’m not smart enough’?  Or perhaps the story about ‘I’m the only one who feels this way?’  Perhaps not.

Perhaps you have heard the one about ‘It is everyone else’ or ‘That’s just the way it is’ or even ‘It’s not who I am’?

Remember, most of the stories we are telling ourselves are fiction.
