I find inspiration everywhere.  Last night I was reading to my daughter from ‘Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls’, a bedtime story book that ‘reinvents fairy tales, inspiring children with the stories of 100 heroic women from Elizabeth 1 to Serena Williams’.

Last night was Michelle Obama’s story.  Evidently, Michelle had been given plenty of discouraging advice from teachers who told her not to aim too high.   Fortunately for us she ignored her teachers and listened to her Mother instead: ‘If it can be done, you can do it’.

I think it was my Dad who told me ‘Shoot for the stars, you might reach the moon’.  And it seems,  for Michelle, she shot right passed the moon then the stars and entered a galaxy all of her own.

For us mere mortals on planet earth, instead of shooting for the stars, most of us shoot ourselves down.  But if we want to live anything close to the life of our dreams, we’ve got to be willing to take off and leave behind life as we know it.
