Last night I watched ‘Come Far Away’ at the theatre, the extraordinary true story of what happened when Gander, a small town in Newfoundland, welcomed 7000 stranded air passengers on 9/11. One critic reviewed it as ‘A celebration of the best of human kind’.

If only we didn’t need a crisis to bring out the best in ourselves.

In Gander, frustration, stress, fear, conflict and overwhelm were just a few emotions running high that very first day. (Sound like an office space near you?) And yet, a few days later, the remarkable human qualities of creativity, resilience, compassion and courage rose up to the challenge and saved the day.

Believe it or not we are all creative, resilient, compassionate and courageous. Don’t wait for a crisis. Have a Gander at doing your best!
