After 2.5yrs away from my blog, Dame Deborah James’ death yesterday inspired me to relaunch ‘Carpe Diem’ today.

From what I have read, even before becoming known as Bowel Babe, Dame Deborah James wanted to live her life making a difference. It seems this was her purpose as a teacher. And as she confronted her fast-approaching mortality, her purpose in raising awareness of bowel cancer.

None of us get out of here alive. And tragically some of us aren’t lucky enough to enjoy the average 4000 weeks Oliver Burkeman estimates.

Having lost my husband 2.5yrs ago, I was absolutely determined to continue Carpe Diem….not just the blog but literally, to seize the day. Imagining that possibility felt radical.

If you were to be rebelliously hopeful, how might you spend the rest of your 4000 weeks?
