Arianna Huffington’s ‘Fearless’ and Susan Jeffers’ classic, ‘Feel the fear and do it anyway’ may have said it all on the subject of feeling fear. However, I believe most of us could still do with feeling fear and a little more often.

Feeling fearful is a given when we step into uncertainty and the unknown. It is familiar territory for inspirational and innovative trailblazers. It is the place where giant leaps for mankind are made.

The alternative is the velvet rut. This is the place of comfort, ease and status quo. It’s very easy to fall into a rut. The slope can be slippery and the rut reassuringly familiar.

From time to time, most of us will get stuck in a rut. So if and when you are looking to break free, expect to be scared and remind yourself: fortune favours the brave.
