I was inspired to read ‘Jumping the Picket Fence’ by Lydia Dean, a book written by the woman who renovated the house we are renting in Provence. It is a remarkable true story of one woman finding her life purpose. Spoiler alert: it has nothing to do with renovating houses in Provence!

A common reason clients come to coaching is a general dissatisfaction and a desire for greater fulfilment. They are perhaps asking themselves: is this really it? And together we might explore their life purpose which often takes time to emerge through trial and error. Lydia’s story is a text book example of finding your purpose through trial and error.

At one point, Lydia has a moment of self-doubt and her husband asks: ‘What’s the hurry?’ and then advises, ‘Just put one foot in front of the other, stay true to your ideas and learn from others who know more than you. And don’t forget to look up every once in a while to make sure you are heading where you want to go.’

Incredible advice for any explorer.
