In the spirit of keeping our spirits up, what about Alcarez’s victorious comeback at the French Open final last weekend? For those of you who are not tennis fans or not on a personal mission to scour the news for good news like me, Alcarez beat Sinner in the longest final in history at 5 hrs and 29 minutes. He came back from 2 sets down and saved 3 championship points. And he is only 22yrs old.
What an inspiring display of grit and determination. Whilst he may have had his eye on the prize, he stayed present on playing each point in front of him. He didn’t look back and he didn’t look too far forward.
And what a lesson in self-belief. As Henry Ford said, ‘If you think you can or you think you can’t you are right’. And he obviously thought he could. Against the world number 1. Against 3 championship points. Against all those odds.
And in front of a global audience of 5.5 million.
At 22 yrs of age people.
So if you are having a tough day, are nervous about an upcoming meeting or just feel like life is an uphill battle, take a leaf out of Alcarez’s book. You can do it!
