Today we are celebrating my son’s 16th birthday. It’s that old cliché: he has his whole life ahead of him and he is full of hope, dreams and possibility.
It’s a tragedy but understandable that so many of us become world weary with the many responsibilities that come with being an adult, the curve balls that life throws at us or the weight of expectation. The life of our dreams feels impossible, immature and often out of reach.
Yet there are so many inspiring examples where life has begun at 50yrs, 60yrs, 70yrs and beyond. Famously:
- Vera Wang started her fashion career at 40yrs
- Julia Child published her first cookbook at 50yrs
- Harland Sanders franchised KFC at 65yrs
- Nelson Mandela became President at 75yrs
We don’t always need to become a household name or reinvent ourselves to be successful, happy or more fulfilled. But many of us could do with being a little more courageous to live a life without regrets.
How can you be more courageous today?
