Recently, I’ve noticed how much we all seem to be avoiding each other. We send an e-mail rather than walk round to someone’s desk. We send a text rather than pick up the phone. We watch a webinar rather than attend in person. We avoid presentations, conversations and confrontations.
In 2017, McKinsey assessed the ‘Future of the Workplace’ with the dawn of AI and automation. One of the key findings in its report was that humans are still better than robots at identifying, responding and displaying social and emotional states. Whilst there is a time and a place for speed and efficiency nothing beats the power of real life!
So here’s a reminder to us all to keep it real just a little more often.
