My family and I are celebrating today and it’s not what you think. Yes it is GCSE results day here in the UK (national academic qualifications for 14yrs-16yrs old) and yes, I’m thrilled my son has set his own PB. BUT here’s the thing no one prepared me for:
- My son working towards his own goals and making himself proud
- Being happier for my son than I ever have been for my own achievements
- Having friends and family who are genuinely celebrating and sharing our joy with us
- My son successfully creating his own opportunities
Parenting is very much like leadership. Championing your charges to fulfil their potential. Understanding the measure of your success is their success. Celebrating the wins with the extended team. And providing the foundations for our people to think for themselves.
Remember, you are the CEO of your career and life.
